The Mercure Europe is a purpose built property with a plain exterior, which belies the impressive interior. In particular this features an attractively designed first floor inner garden with trees, shrubs, flower beds and paths, overlooked by some rooms and neighbouring apartment blocks. The medium sized marble lobby benefits from a bright, modern design and leads on to a small seating area. Also medium sized, the 166 asymmetric guestrooms are decorated in bold, earthy colour schemes and contain comfortable modern furniture. They are clean and well maintained, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms. The hotel’s main restaurant - Peter Moser's "Les Quatre Saison" - is rather expensive but is reputed to be one of the best in Switzerland, with a Michelin star rating, and serves international market-fresh cuisine. The hotel also has a less formal restaurant, which serves light snacks.
